Asal Hazel is a neo-soul songstress whose music is described as alternative R&B, with elements of soul, ethereal R&B, and pop. With the help of the Stones Throw/Akashik Records affiliated collective, the Persian-American Los Angeles native is wrapping up her debut project that she had begun independently back in 2015. She has curated a world of staggering dysphoria in the dreamy sounds birthed from lovelorn poetry and atmospheric vocal tone. Hazel's lyrics are vulnerable, clever and revolve around themes of love, lust, and enlightenment. The debut project, Like Water, features production from Swarvy, and Stones Throw heavy hitters, such as MNDSGN, and Grammy-winning producer, Knxwledge, amongst others.

The songs of Haunted Summer are dreamy and hypnotic, rich with orchestral strings and sultry electronic textures. With their previous EP, Something in the Water, the group crafted a captivating, ethereal musical journey through a nostalgic world of young love and long-forgotten memories. Consisting  of husband-and-wife Bridgette Moody and John Seasons, who share songwriting duties in a true collaboration, the Los Angeles duo have shared the stage and toured with groups and performers including Taken By Trees, Islands, Deafheaven, The Polyphonic Spree, Coeur De Pirate, Olafur Arnalds, Carla Morrison, Meiko, Basia Bulat, Geographer, David J of Bauhaus and more.

Their forthcoming full-length, Spirit Guides, was written on the road as well as recorded in several studios including Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood, Comp-ny LA, and studios owned by Ninkasi Brewing in Eugene, Oregon. It features an array of talented musicians, including (but not limited to!) Dave Catching from Eagles of Death Metal and Chris Goss from Masters of Reality (both of whom are on the title track). Spirit Guides comes out digitally September 29th and physically Sept 30th.

TIME002 RELEASE PARTY

The Los Angeles exclusive release party of These Things Take Time's "TIME002"

Forged last year in the fires of Chicago's world renowned club, Smartbar, with the support and distribution of Lobster Theramin, These Things Take Time is a Chicago/Philly based house label run by founder Hayes Bradley. Following a sell out tape in 2016 and a year long honeymoon in Berlin, Lobster Theramin picked up TTTT's second release for distro on wax, and the rest is history. Put on your dancing shoes and come see the label boss himself throw down some jigs on the 1's and 2's to celebrate the unveiling of TTTT's first wax on the market.

Providing further aural entertainment is the acerbic Scotland based producer/DJ/CPR Certified Swift Water Rescue Lifeguard/ avid reader, Brooks Hudgins aka Sweetheart Cowboy; who's affable productions, and sweaty, kinetic, floorboard cracking sets in the UK have been the soundtrack to more than 10,000 k holes. The prodigal son returns after 3 years away for his LA debut, back to back like Jennifer Connolly in Requiem for a Dream with cougar heartbreaker and reformed Pagan child star Jack George, a name well known the in the illegal Montreal rave scene where he cut his teeth as a DJ.

Dzang birthed half a decade ago as an outlet for Los Angeles producer Adam Gunther’s more exploratory impulses, beyond the confines of his soundtrack work. Following a pair of self-released LPs (XLO, 2014, and Lotion, 2015), he began amassing a vault of liquid inner space instrumentals, tracing connections between poolside R&B, sun-kissed pop, astral jazz, and blunted dance. For half the tracks he called in a cast of featured collaborators to sing, speak, rap, or reflect, including smoky New York City vocalist DonChristian, Estonian avant-diva Maria Minerva, neo-crooner Maxim Ludwig, and Cali chanteuse Olivia Kaplan.

The resultant collection, 3G, coasts blissfully across 14 tracks of weekend West Coast electronic rhythm, alternately soft and summery, downtempo and upscale. Gunther’s touch is heady, hi-fi, and healing. Pacific dreams for specific times.

Link: 3G is out now on DzangRecs.
